Maison du Zéro Déchetes (Zero Waste Home) is another cool place on the Parisian map. Once you step in, you will visit it regularly! Inaugurated in July 2017, aims to show and teach how we can live without producing waste or at least to reduce it. It was created thanks to the involvement of Zero Waste France, an association that promotes recycling and fights against the waste production .
It has all started with a festival
The association organized in 2016 the first Parisian Zéro Waste Festival. The interest exceeded the expectations but also made the organizers aware that the topic of waste was an issue that needed its continuation. And then the project The Maison Zéro Déchetes was born.
Located at the foot of the Montmartre, the Maison du Zéro Déchetes is a shop where you can find for example jam made from unsold fruits, canvas bags as an alternative to plastic ones, eco make-up remover and many other ecological, recyclable and locally produced products in France. There is also a little reading room where will find many books, publications and brochures treating the subject of zero waste. Obviously, you will find there the book of Béy Johnson, a real specialist in this field.
Workshops, conferences, exhibitions
But Maison du Zéro Déchet is also a place where many workshops and exhibitions take place. There is 50 of them planned for the next three months! You can choose among workshops where you will learn how to make own cosmetics, do composting, cook without waste, stock exchange, crafting school supplies etc …
At the moment there is a photography exhibition of Antoin Repessé. The author shows us the results of his 4 four-year collection of recycling waste. It consists of: 1600 bottles of milk, 4800 rolls of toilet paper, 800 kg of plastic bags The objective of the artist is the public awarenessthat in fact some of our money is spent on rubbish and even double! The first time you purchase a product that includes the cost of the package and the second time it is recycled …
The development of society and consumption has led to massive waste production that is a real threat to the environment and our health. And each of our banal purchase has an impact on this situation. The best method for the tones of junk is just the limitation of its production.
